House of Ka is a 2023 American feature film directed by Josie Eli Herman and written by Michael Alan Herman and Josie Eli Herman.[2] House of Ka is inspired by Bram Stoker's The Jewel of Seven Stars[3] and follows a young woman's twisted investigation into the supernatural as she tries to save her father from a supernatural illness.[2][4]
Background
The film was originally written as a theatrical play by Michael Alan Herman titled The Mummy Queen and was directed by Josie Eli Herman.[5] The original theatre production won the Wilde Awards for Best Play and Best Sound Design in 2022.[6]

Production
House of Ka is the feature film directorial debut of Josie Eli Herman.[7] Principal photography began in January 2023 in Adrian, Michigan and was completed in 8+1⁄2 days.[8] The primary shooting location was built in the Victorian era and existed while Bram Stoker was writing the original novel The Jewel of Seven Stars. [9] The cast of the original theatre production reprised their roles for the film.[10]
